This photo show’s Spock in a fireproof “Volcano” suit – not unlike the “Away Team” suits on Enterprise – in front of the “green” screen on the set of Star Trek 2.
Reflections of real flames on the set can be seen in it making the yet to be added volcano seem realistic from all angles.
It was said that after a few shoots involving his stunt double Quinto was “rigged to a wire… and lifted to a height of 10 stories high [and] then dropped at a high rate of speed as if he was falling.”
