Regarding the much talked about addition to Star Trek 2 – Benedict Cumberbatch – Karl Urban, Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, tells SFX; “He’s awesome, he’s a great addition, and I think his Gary Mitchell is going to be exemplary.”
Though Robert Orci denies it, could Gary Mitchell be Star Trek’s newest (old) villain? And, if he is would this really be “news?” or the lack of attention to the newest IDW Star Trek Ongoing comic book series?
TrekPulse reported long ago that IDW Publishing’s comic book would feature the new J.J. Abrams crew revisiting the classic original series and it that it had also been said that the comic series may precede the newest feature film…
The series featured a rewrite of the original series episode “Where No Man Has Gone Before” wherein the Enterprise encountered an unusual energy force field causing Gary Mitchell (an old classmate of Kirk’s) to develop unusual telepathic powers…
Interesting. Will the events in the comic books be those that take place on the big screen? It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve been treated to a comic turned feature film, or was that feature film turned comic book? TV series turned comic book. Well, any way you want to look at it – Stay tuned!
And, while you’re waiting you may want to read the IDW Publishing’s Star Trek Ongoing series – just in case.
