Nichelle Nichols tells Scott Colthorp, director of Trek Nation, that she was quite possibly Gene Roddenberry’s first choice for Spock;
She said:
“They gave me a three-page script to read from that had three characters named,”
“There was Bones, Kirk and someone called Spock and they asked me to read for the role of Spock….“
Nichelle, as we all know, was cast as Lieutenant Uhura, Captain Kirk’s chief communications officer.
Years later however, Gene Roddenberry’s original plan may have finally been brought to life in Sub-Commander T’Pol, First Officer to Captain Johnathan Archer.
